Penalty Abatement - Removal of Tax Penalties
The IRS code allows for removal of
tax penalties when you had a good reason for not paying your
taxes. To make this happen you may have to prove to the
IRS that you had "reasonable cause" for not
paying the taxes. Some things that give rise to reasonable cause
include:
-
Serious
medical conditions;
- Embezzlement or theft;
- Fire, flood, or other disasters out of your control;
- Bad accounting or legal advice;
- Lost or destroyed records.
You must also show "due diligence" and "no
neglect" in attempts to repay your tax debt. Would you like to apply for an IRS Penalty Abatement?
