About Avantri Law
- TaxDefendant.com
Avantri Law is located about
30 miles north of Seattle in Everett, Washington. While
the office is located in Washington State, Avantri Law
represents tax clients within the entire United States.
Under IRS Circular 230, Avantri Law is permitted to represent
clients from all fifty states before the IRS. Also, Tax Court is a court of
national jurisdiction. Once an attorney is admitted to
represent clients before Tax Court, the court admission is
valid in all fifty states.
Our clients include
individuals, corporations, and limited liability companies.
Many clients have not filed tax returns or have not filed them
correctly. Of course, sometimes our clients file correct
tax returns and the IRS disagrees. Avantri Law has
accounting services available locally or we can work with your tax
return preparer should you prefer that arrangement.
Although
Avantri Law represents clients within the entire country, many
of our clients are local. We have many
clients from Snohomish and King Counties, especially Everett and
its surrounding cities such as Marysville, Stanwood, Smoky
Point, and Arlington. We also have many King County clients
because our fees are lower. People drive up from Seattle,
Shoreline, and also from South Snohomish County, such as
Lynnwood, Edmonds, and Bothell. We also have quite a few
clients from the Eastside, such as Kirkland, Redmond, and
Bellevue.
Avantri Law is owned and
operated by tax attorney, John L. Hoffer. Mr. Hoffer
received his J.D. at Gonzage University School of Law in
1981 and his LL.M in taxation from Boston University School of
Law in 1983. He was a published member and associate
editor of the Law Review at the Gonzaga University School of law, and a member of the Boston
University Journal of Tax Law, where he authored, Tax
Legislation and the Origination Clause, 2 B.U.Journal of Tax Law 1
(1984), which in 2002 was cited in a U.S. Congressional report on the interpretation and enforcement of
the Origination Clause of the United States Constitution.
He has been admitted into
Federal District Court as an expert witness in tax law. He
has argued tax cases up to the United States Court of Appeals,
Ninth Circuit.
In 1993 through 1995 he served
as chair of the Tax Law Section of the Alaska Bar Association,
and vice-chair from 1991 through 1993. He has taught at
various continuing legal education seminars for attorneys and
accountants.
Mr. Hoffer is a dedicated
attorney who believes in personal service and knows only too
well that the IRS is dysfunctional, in part because Congress has
written laws to ensure that the tax collection system rarely
produces a just result.

If you have a tax problem and
are considering using a professional other than a tax attorney,
bear in mind that the IRS has had to issue a consumer alert
because there are so many fraudulent and quasi-fraudulent tax
operators who promise the moon, charge an arm-and-a-leg, and
fail to make good on their promises.
CONSUMER ALERT. That is not our style at Avantri
Law.
If we can't help you, we will say so. If you
don't qualify for an Offer in Compromise, we will tell you that
up front instead of charging you a large fee and letting you
find out the hard way that you don't qualify. At Avantri
Law, Mr. Hoffer will provide the integrity, competence, and
personal service that your tax problem deserves.
The initial phone call is
free. Call and talk with Mr. Hoffer at Avantri Law.
